Not sure what you can do in Solink yet? Have a specific issue you think Solink can solve but you are not entirely sure how to go about it? Check out this guide to understand how you can take advantage of some of the best features Solink has to offer and solve some of the most crucial problems related to loss prevention, security and operations.
Each Solink feature outlined here is intended to help you better protect your people, patrons and profits, regardless of industry.
Operations
With Solink, you can keep track of your locations and employees to ensure everything runs smoothly. Solink allows you to gain more insight into what is happening at your locations thanks to a simple, easy-to-use interface that taps into all of your cameras.
Take advantage of tools to ensure your employees are on-time and working hard and that you are getting notified of the performance data that matters most to you.
1. View All Your Locations from One Interface
Problem: I have so many cameras across multiple locations. It can be difficult to monitor all of the cameras at even just one location. Does Solink organize my cameras from all of my locations so that I can easily find and access video footage?
Solution: Solink allows you to have total visibility of your locations, no matter where they are located. Not only are cameras organized by location within one helpful interface, but you can “group” cameras into custom folders to make navigation simple.
Watch the video below to learn how you can view and organize all of your cameras in Solink:
Next Steps: For more information on navigating to and organizing your cameras in Solink, see these articles:
• Create Camera Groups
• Edit Camera Names
• Create and Edit Floorplans
2. Review Employee Performance
Problem: I want to make sure employees are coming in to work and leaving work around the times they are supposed to start and end, in addition to making sure they aren’t taking longer than agreed upon breaks. How can I use Solink to make sure employees are respecting work hours?
Solution: You can use Solink’s motion search tool to highlight an entrance/exit door and monitor when employees enter or exit the building. This helps you determine if an employee has come in late or left early. You can also select a camera that shows where employees typically take breaks and then use motion search to monitor the time spent in the area.
Watch the video below to learn how you can use Solink to audit employee productivity:
Next Steps: For more information on how to navigate in the video player, see our Video Player UI Overview. And see our Motion Search guide for more information on to use motion search to your advantage.
3. Receive Notifications From your Locations
Problem: How can I receive regular, meaningful updates from Solink without logging in every day or expecting my employees to log in to receive updates? Can I get key metrics sent to my email?
Solution: You can receive regular notifications via email and determine the frequency these notifications are sent. You can also get notified through SMS text messages or directly through the Solink interface. You can edit existing notifications in Solink Settings.
Watch the video below to learn how you can configure push, SMS, and/or daily/weekly email digest notifications:
Next Steps: In addition to setting up notifications, the video above touches on how to create a report. If you need more information on how to create, view and edit reports, see our Create a Report guide.
4. Ensure Physical Safety
Problem: I want to make sure all of my stores are following proper physical safety protocols. For example, how can I ensure all emergency exits are clear of obstructions?
Solution: Solink’s Motion Search tool allows you to highlight doors and exits to see if motion occurred at any given time. You can use this tool to see if employees are using emergency exits outside of an emergency, for example. You can also scroll through video to monitor a door and ensure there are no obstructions blocking the door (such as garbage cans, boxes, crates, etc.).
Watch the video below for an example of how to spot and address a potential health and safety violation:
Next Steps: Check out our Motion Search and Video Player User Interface guides for additional reference.
Security
Solink keeps your business secure. Video alarms allow you to get notified if there is motion at your locations during certain hours of the day or night. Solink also allows you to save clips of video footage and send them to the proper authorities with confidentiality and ease.
1. Protect Locations with Video Alarms
Problem: I want to get notified right away if there is a break-in at one of my locations so that I can alert the authorities or have a service monitor this for me. How can I set up a video alarm schedule to ensure I or other employees are notified immediately if there is motion at my location while it is closed?
Solution: Solink Video Alarms allow you to see if a break in occurs immediately. We currently offer two subscription levels for our Video Alarms service. You can either use the self-serve video alarm feature (this is included with your Solink account at no additional cost), or subscribe to monitored video alarms with a third-party service we have partnered with (Noonlight) to get notified right away and/or have police dispatched if suspicious motion is detected during your alarm schedule.
Next Steps: Contact our support team at 1-888-335-9844 (6 A.M - 12 A.M EST) or support@solink.com if you wish to enable video alarms on your account. Once the feature has been enabled on your account, check out our Video Alarms guide for more information on how to set up, configure and use Solink video alarms.
2. Save Video Clips for Police or Insurance
Problem: There was a break-in at my location. I want to send video to the police and/or my insurance company has requested video of the incident. How can I save the clip so I have it at my disposal for these potential uses later on?
Solution: Solink offers a simple save clip process. You can also email the clip to anyone who is not a Solink user or provide temporary video access to a non-Solink user.
Watch the video below to learn how to save a clip in Solink:
Next Steps: You can copy the link to the video of the event, or provide temporary video access to the camera if required. See these articles for more information:
• Copy Share Link (Share Clips with Non-Solink Users)
• Provide Temporary Video Access
Loss Prevention
Solink gives you the tools to find and prevent loss you may incur at your locations. You can search your POS transactions within Solink to find specific instances of employee theft. Or use our motion search tool to easily spot missing or stolen items.
1. Spot Theft
Problem: I want to see if employees are giving themselves or customers free or discounted items. This is a form of theft and can cost my business money.
Solution: Use the search bar on the Events page to look for discounts, refunds, voids, etc. You can see if there is a pattern of these kinds of transactions and view video clips related to the transactions to understand if there is a valid reason for the transaction, or if an employee is giving themselves or others free or discounted items and then take the necessary action from there.
Watch the video below to learn how you can use Solink to audit your locations for theft:
Next Steps: It is important to understand how you can use the search bar on the Events page to leverage the power of Solink. For more information on how to use the search bar, see Search Bar on the Events Page.
2. Prevent Theft
Problem: I want to protect money stored in the cash register and safe. How can I use Solink to verify if an employee has left the cash register or safe exposed? Or, how can I quickly navigate to video of an employee opening the safe?
Solution: Use motion search to find whenever a safe or register is opened. You can use motion search to find whenever a register or safe has been opened (and left open) and then diagnose the issue. If a specific employee continues to leave these things exposed for example, you can take the necessary steps to ensure this doesn’t happen in the future.
Next Steps: This video makes use of the motion search tool. For more information on how to use this tool, see our Motion Search guide.
