The search bar on the Events page allows you to find content within your events and/or filter your events based on search keywords and filters:
To start a search:
Type something into the search bar;
Select "contains" from the dropdown list to search for events that contain the word you typed in; or select "does not contain" to filter out events that contain the word you typed.
You can repeat this process to filter your search with multiple keywords:
Add Filter
Select the Add Filter button to refine your search using a list of predefined filters:
You can sort through the available filter categories using the dropdown menu:
โ
There are currently three types of filter categories you can choose from:
Filters that require you to define a value (represented by the # icon):
Filters with predefined values (represented by the ab icon):
Date-specific filters associated with a calendar icon. See Search by Date and Time for more information on these filters.
Update Existing Filters
You can always make adjustments to the filters in your current search. To do so:
Select the filter you want to update.
Make any changes to the filter (select new options, change the value, etc).
Select Update to apply the changes.
The GIF below provides an example of how to update a filter:
You can also select Clear All to clear all of your current filters and reset your search:
See the sections below for more specific ways you can use the search bar on the Events page to find what you're looking for.
Search by POS
If you are looking for transactions from a particular POS system, look at the bottom of your receipts to identify the POS name.
For example, you can type "DTP" in the search bar, then select "contains DTP" from the dropdown list to find transactions from a drive thru POS because that is what the POS is named in the Solink system:
Search by Transaction Amount
Use the Total Amount filter to search for specific dollar amounts within your transactions:
For example, you could select the Total Amount filter, then select "is less than" and type "5" to filter all of your transactions with a total amount less than $5 dollars.
Or, select "is equal to" and then type "0" to search for transactions that resulted in $0 dollars (this is helpful if you want to see if employees are discounting transactions to give away or take free items).
Search by Payment Method
If you are looking for transactions with a specific method of payment, search using the exact terms of the payment type.
For example, type Paid Cash in the search bar, then select "contains Paid Cash" from the dropdown list to find transactions where the customer paid in cash:
Search by Date and Time
To filter your events based on date and time:
Select the Add Filter button on the Events page.
Select the Date and Time category:
You can then select from a number of filters within the Date and Time category.
There are two types of date and time filters:
Date-specific filters: A date-specific filter allows you to search for events within or on a specific day/series of days. These filters are represented by a calendar icon.
Hashtag Filters: This type of filter allows you to search for events within a period of time across all days. These filters are represented by the # icon.
See the following sections for an overview of how to use date-specific and hashtag filters.
Date-Specific Filters
A Date and Time filter with a calendar icon allows you to do the following:
Search for events that started, ended etc. between two periods of time on a certain day or series of days;
Search for events that started, ended etc. on a certain day.
Date-specific filters include:
Select the Start Time or End Time filters to search for events:
with a start time/end time on a specific day;
with a start time/end time that falls within a select period of time on a specific day.
To search for events with a start time/end time on a specific day:
Select the on option:
Select a day from the calendar widget.
Select Add to filter events based on the selected day.
To search for events that began/ended within a specified period of time on a specific day:
Select the between option:
Select a start date with the calendar widget:
Select either the same day, or another day after the one you selected in step 2:
Select a time for each of the selected days.
Select Add to filter events that began/ended between the selected days and times.
Hashtag # Date and Time Filters
You can use # hashtag filters to search for all events within a specific time period. For example, you could choose to only display events created between 9 A.M. and 1:00 P.M. if you wish.
To display events only created within a specified period of time:
Ensure you are searching on the selected date you wish to display events from. Use the calendar widget/date picker to the top-right of the page to select a specific day.
Select the Add Filter button next to the search bar. Type in or navigate to and select # Start Time (HHMM):
Select "is greater than" to indicate that events will be greater than the start time you input.
Type the time you would like using the 24 hour format. For example, if you want to display events between the hours of 9 A.M. and 1:00 P.M., type "0900" for the Start Time field.
Select Add (or Enter on your keyboard) to confirm the start time.
Repeat steps 2-4, (use a # Start Time (HHMM) filter) but select the "is less than" option instead. Enter the desired time using the 24 hour format (in this example, the user would like to search for all events created up until 1 PM, so they would type in "1300").
Scroll through the events on the page to see only events generated between the start and end times you specified in the search.
Search by Line Items and Keywords
You can use the search feature to track sales of a specific receipt item. In the following example, the user is tracking sales of Dark Roast coffees simply by typing the item name into the search bar:
Special Search Keywords (AND/OR Filters)
You can expand your event search with each additional search term. For example, type one search term into the search bar and then search for an additional term separately:
An "AND" filter displays between each separate search term. The "AND" filter highlights specific areas in all receipts, titles, subtitles and notes that contain both of those search terms. For example, search for "contains milk" and then search for "contains bagels" to show only receipts containing both of these terms:
Click the "AND" filter to switch to an "OR" filter. The "OR" filter highlights specific areas in all receipts, titles, subtitles and notes that contain at least one of those search terms. For example, "milk" OR "bagels" will show only receipts containing at least one of these terms:
Save Your Searches (Create a Report)
You can save your searches for later without having to type terms into the search bar again. A saved search is referred to as a Report.
See Create a Report to learn more.
