With Solink's Zone Tracking feature, automatically create an event whenever an individual in the camera view remains or leaves a zone for a certain period of time.
Note: Zone Tracking Events is available with a subscription to Solink's AI Package.
Unlike Zone Tracking Search, you can create several zones - up to 5 per camera - and "set and forget" while Solink's AI generates events based on your configuration.
Zone Tracking Events can help you track and measure:
Average speed of service
Queue times that exceed X seconds
Display effectiveness and product engagement
No activity in a given area, such as the cash register or service counter
How to Configure Zone Tracking Events
Select a camera on the Video page to start configuring Zone Tracking Events:
Select the AI button near the top-right of the video player.
Select Zone Tracking:
Select the Events tab in the Zone Tracking menu:
Next, you can add and draw a zone in the camera view - this zone can be configured to track queue time, dwell time, or when there is no activity present in the zone.
To add a new zone:
Select the Add button in the top-right corner of the video player:
Draw a zone. Keep in mind what you want to track with your zone - follow these guidelines for an optimal zone:
Queue times/speed of service: Draw the zone around the customer queue area.
Display effectiveness: Draw the zone around the display area:
No employee activity: Draw the zone where an employee should be (cash register area):
Tip: For faster AI performance, reduce the number of vertices in the zone. This may help if you are experiencing any issues with your events.
Next, configure the zone:
Type a Name for the zone. The name is recorded in the event card.
Select a zone Type (Queue, Dwell, or No activity, as per the zone examples listed in step 2) Selecting the right type helps separate the zone data.
Set a Minimum Time. This determines the minimum time an individual must remain in the zone until an event is created. For a No Activity zone type, this instead creates an event when no one is present in the zone for the Minimum Time.
Once you have finished creating and configuring the zone, all changes are automatically applied and saved. See the next section for information on how to locate and review Zone Tracking events.
Note: It may take 30 seconds or longer from the time the event occurs to the time it displays on the Events page.
Note: You can create up to 5 zones per camera.
Locate Zone Tracking Events
You can locate all of your Zone Tracking events on the Events page in the Solink platform.
To find your Zone Tracking events:
On the Events page, select the AI tab at the top of the page:
Select the Zone Tracking filter on the right-side of the page:
Now, only Zone Tracking events are displayed on the page.
Filter Zone Tracking Events
You can use additional filters to narrow your search for Zone Tracking events.
To get started:
Select the Add Filter button on the Events page.
Type "zone" in the search bar (or select All Categories > AI).
Select one of the following Zone Tracking filters to narrow your search:
Zone Label: The name assigned to the zone when you configured it in the Zone Tracking Events menu.
Zone Time: The time, in seconds, that one or more people remained in the zone for (or for No Activity, this displays the Minimum Time configured for the zone).
Zone Type: Choose from a Queue, Dwell or No Activity zone type.
Display Zone Tracking Data in Widget
You can create widgets to display important data from your Zone Tracking events.
Note: Please reach out to your Customer Success Representative if you require help creating a Zone Tracking report and widgets.
You can create a widget to display the total number of times in a day that people remained in the zone longer than X seconds OR total time spent in the zone over a period of time (day, week, month, year).
First, create a report to capture the data for the widget:
Add filters on the Events page based on what you want the widget to display. For example, you may want to target a specific zone or all of your zones, therefore add filters that target either a specific Zone Label or Zone Type (e.g., Dwell). Please refer to Filter Zone Tracking Events section for information on how to filter these events and refer to Create a Report for more information on creating reports.
Select the Zone Time filter and choose "is greater than" X seconds. For example, to capture only instances of people in the zone(s) greater than 2 minutes, type "120" (seconds):
β
Pictured below is an example of filters that will capture events with a specific Zone Type, Zone Label (name) and only if time spent in the zone was greater than 120 seconds:
Create Widget: Frequency Person Spent More than X Seconds in Zone
Create a widget that displays the total number of times a person or people remained in zone(s) for more than X seconds:

In the Category field, select Other.
In the Data Type field, select All Event Types (Count).
In the Statistic field, select Count.
Configure the rest of the widget to your liking and use the Dashboard filters to manipulate the data displayed in the widget (show data based on location(s) and/or time period).
Note: See our Widget guides for more information on how to create and configure widgets.
