Zone Tracking Search allows you to measure how long are people are spending in areas of your store.

Note: Zone Tracking Search is available with a subscription to Solink's AI Package.

With Zone Tracking Search, you can create a zone and measure a number of different stats within the zone.

Zone Tracking Search can help you make better decisions in your store when it comes to improving display effectiveness, preventing loitering, increasing speed of service, etc.

Enable Zone Tracking Search

You can access Zone Tracking Search in the Solink video player. However, you must first enable People Analytics on one of your cameras in order to use the feature for that camera.

See Enable People Analytics for more information.

Note: Additional permission is required to manage people analytics on your cameras. Please reach out to our Support team if you require permission.

Note: People analytics can only be enabled on one camera. However, you can disable people analytics on one camera and enable it on another whenever required.

How to Create an Zone

  1. From the Video page, select the camera you want to create a zone for.

  2. In the video player, select AI > Zone Tracking:

  3. Click in the camera view to create points and form your zone. Click the first point to close the zone and generate data:

Tip: Use the Undo and Clear buttons in the top-right of the video player to either undo the last action when creating the zone OR clear the zone and create a new one.

Configure Zone Tracking Search

Configure your zone by following the steps outlined below.

First, select a Start Time and End Time on the right-side of the Zone Tracking Search interface to retrieve data within a specific timeframe:

Next, configure the Minimum Time (in seconds).

This field determines the minimum amount of time someone must remain in the zone for it to count towards the Average Time and Total People metrics as outlined below. If someone spends less than the specified Minimum Time in the zone, it will contribute to the Total Passthrough metric as outlined below.

Zone Tracking Search Metrics

Zone Tracking Search metrics allow you to measure the following data points:

  • Average Time: Measure the average amount of time people spend in the specified zone to help inform you of the effectiveness of a display shelf, review queue time speed of service, etc.

  • Max Time: Measure the maximum amount of time someone spent in the specified zone.

  • Total People: Track the total number of people who remained in the specified zone for X amount of time.

  • Passthrough Traffic: Measure the total number of people who passed through the zone but did not remain in the zone for the amount of time you have specified (for example, less than 30 seconds).

Navigate Zone Events

You can quickly navigate to each instance that an individual remained in or passed through the zone via the video player buttons.

First, select what kind of events you wish to navigate to.

Toggle to People Only to navigate to instances of people who remained in the zone for the Minimum Time or longer; toggle to Passthrough Only to navigate to instances where someone passed through the zone but did not remain for the Minimum Time:

Then, use the Previous Event and Next Event buttons in the video player to find each instance of a person who remained in the area for the Minimum Time (icons will appear blue) or each instance of a person who passed through the zone (icons will appear orange):
