Solink Sidekick AI provides you with an AI assistant capable of providing helpful information related to your camera footage and Dashboard widgets from any of your locations.

Solink Sidekick AI is currently available in beta on the Solink iOS app. You can request to join the beta here.

Sidekick uses artificial intelligence to assess the state of your store at the present point in time and help you gather important data, including:

  • Customer traffic.

  • If your employees are actively providing service to customers.

  • If there are any safety or health risks, with suggestions (if there is a spill on the floor, the AI provides a suggestion to mitigate the risk).

  • If employees are following business standards (wearing hairnet, uniform, etc.).

How to Access Sidekick

There are currently two areas in the Solink iOS app where you can access Sidekick:

Via Location/Camera Groups

To create a prompt related to a specific location, or location(s) within a camera group:

  1. Navigate to the Video tab.

  2. Choose a location you would like to launch with Sidekick OR a camera group. Swipe left on the location or camera group to reveal the green "speech bubble" icon.

  3. Tap the green icon to launch Sidekick.

Via Dashboard Widgets

You can also create prompts for data related to any of your widgets. To open Sidekick for widgets:

  1. Navigate to the Dashboard tab.

  2. Tap the green "speech bubble" icon to launch Sidekick for the respective widget:

How to Create a Prompt for Sidekick

To create a prompt for Sidekick and receive an answer:

  1. Tap the text box to open your device's keyboard:

  2. Type your prompt. Take note of the following examples of "good" and "bad" prompts to improve the response:

    • Examples of "good" prompts include:

      • “Describe the state of my restaurant and highlight areas for improvement”

      • “How many vehicles are in the drive-thru at each location?”

      • “Tell me if there are any health and safety violations at my store?”

      • “Which locations have employees who are not wearing hair nets in food-prep areas?”

      • For widgets, you can simply type "summarize". Sidekick will summarize data from the widget:

    • Examples of "bad" prompts (avoid typing these kinds of prompts as they may not provide a helpful answer) include:

      • “Is anyone stealing?”

      • “What is the speed of service?”

      • “Tell me how many people have entered the store today”

      • “Did Alex the delivery driver pick up two pizzas or one?”

  3. Tap the Ask AI button to send your prompt to Sidekick. You may need to wait a few moments to receive your response.

Tip: Use keyboard dictation to write prompts faster. For iOS you can do this in Settings > General > Keyboard > Enable Dictation.

How to Access and Review Past Chats

Each time a user sends a prompt to Sidekick, Solink creates an event and records information related to the prompt in the event.

You can access past Sidekick chats via the Events tab > AI sub-tab:

Events maintain the context of the conversation, allowing you to write follow-up prompts:

Tips to Improve your Prompts

Here are a few tips we recommend to improve your prompts and receive better answers:

  • Use detailed, clear, and specific instructions.

  • Create prompts relative to the present point in time (prompts that require Sidekick to observe something over a period of time will not yield a trustworthy answer).

  • Our AI has context retention - this means you can create follow up prompts to receive more detail later on.

Examples of "good" prompts include:

  • “Describe the state of my restaurant and highlight areas for improvement”

  • “How many vehicles are in the drive-thru at each location?”

  • “Tell me if there are any health and safety violations at my store?”

  • “Which locations have employees who are not wearing hair nets in food-prep areas?”

  • For widgets, you can simply type "summarize". Sidekick will summarize data from the widget:

Examples of "bad" prompts (avoid typing these kinds of prompts as they may not provide a helpful answer) include:

  • “Is anyone stealing?”

  • “What is the speed of service?”
