Location Management allows you to create and manage location tags to categorize and group your locations. You can also create sub-categories to create a hierarchal order of locations.
You can then filter your locations on the Dashboard, Events and Video pages using these custom location tags:
Access Location Management via Settings:
Note: Location Management configuration is only available to Admin users who have access to all locations in your Solink account. For more information on user permissions for Location Management, see Location Management Permissions.
Check out the following video tutorial and topics below for information on how to manage, create and filter with tags.
Manage Tag Categories
To start creating location tags, navigate to Settings > Location Management:
Create Tag Categories
To create location tags, you must first create tag categories. Within each tag category, you can create specific tags to help organize your locations.
For example, if you want to organize locations by brands so that you can filter your locations by this parameter later, you can create a "Brand" tag category. Later, you can specify the exact "Brand" that each of your locations belong to via a tag (for example: a location belongs to the Sandwich Shoppe brand, so you assign the "Sandwich Shoppe" tag to the "Brand" tag category; more on this in the Add/Edit Tags section).
To create a new tag category:
Select Manage Tag Categories:
Select the + Add Tag Category button:
Type the name of the tag category in the newly created field:
Select the Save icon to create the tag category.
Note: Please note that you cannot currently edit the tag category name once you have created it. You must first delete the tag category and create a new one if you want to change the name of the tag category. Select the X icon next to the tag category to delete it.
You can also create sub-categories for each tag category to further organize your locations.
For example, you could start with a "Region" category and create sub-category called "District" to group your locations into a hierarchy.
To create a tag sub-category:
In Manage Tag Categories, hover over the tag you want to create a sub-category for.
Select the + button to create a blank sub-category.
Type a name for the sub-category.
Select the Save icon to create the sub-category.
Note: Create tag categories based on what makes sense for your business. For example, many businesses organize stores by Zones, Regions, Districts and/or directions (East/West). However, you could also tag categories by geographical location such as U.S. state, country, etc. Each of these examples could be a tag category or sub-category to help organize your locations.
Upload CSV (optional)
The Upload CSV section of Location Management allows you to export a .csv template (spreadsheet file) with all of your location tags. You can then edit the spreadsheet and upload it to re-configure your location tags.
You can access the Upload CSV section from Location Management > Manage Tag Categories > Upload CSV:
Note: Ensure to use only alpha-numeric characters (letters and numbers) for tags in the .csv file. An error may occur when re-uploading a .csv file that contains non-alpha-numeric characters within a tag.
Export CSV Template
Select the Export button to export all currently configured location tags into a .csv spreadsheet file.
Upload CSV to Tag Locations
Once you have edited the .csv spreadsheet file, you can drag and drop it or browse for the file on your device to re-upload.
Note: Please ensure not to alter the template structure in the .csv file. Doing so may result in issues when re-uploading the file in Solink.
Select the Tag Locations button to replace tags with those created in the .csv file.
Add/Edit Tags
Once you have created tag categories, you can add tags to your locations.
To add tags to a location:
Select the Add Tags button next to the location on the Location Management page:
Type the tag name OR select a previously created tag from the dropdown list for each tag category.
Select Save to apply the tags to the location.
Filter Locations with Tags
Use the location selector at the top of the Dashboard, Events and Video pages to select tags and filter your locations. Any top-level tags you have created appear on the left-side of the location selector menu.
Select a tag to begin filtering your locations.
Select location tags to filter Dashboard metrics, events, cameras on the Video page and display data from the location(s) with the selected tags.
