You can save video clips from your events and video footage and review them later. Saved video clips are stored on the Clips page, where you can access them anytime.

There are two methods to save a clip, depending on what you are looking to save:

Note: For information on how to share saved video clips, see Copy and Share Clip Links. For information on how to download clips, see Download Video Clips.

Save a Clip from the Video Player

You can save a clip from any of your cameras directly in Solink's video player.

To save a clip this way, navigate to the Video page > select the desired camera to open the video player > select the Save Clip button at the top of the video player. Ensure you are not in Live mode (select the Live button to toggle Live mode on or off).

Next, proceed through the following steps to save your clip:

  1. (Optional) Select the + icon to add additional cameras to the clip:

  2. Adjust the time interval to determine a start and end time for the clip.

  3. Add a title for the clip.

  4. Select the video quality of the saved clip:

Note: There is a one hour duration limit for HD (high definition) clips. Otherwise, you can save a clip up to 24 hours in duration.

  5. Select the clip Visibility.

  6. (Optional) Type any information you wish in the Notes field to help users find this saved clip later on.

  7. (Optional) You can share this clip with someone else via email. To share the clip, select the Email checkbox and type the email(s) of the recipients you want to send the clip to along with a message. When you save the clip, the email is sent to the recipient(s) with the clip attached:

  8. Select Save to save the clip to Solink's cloud. You may also have the option to create a local download (save the clip directly to your computer) if you are on the same network as the Solink recording device (QNAP).

Once the clip has been saved, a notification appears in the bottom right of the screen that the clip is now preparing and saving to the cloud. While the clip saves, you can navigate away from the save clip window and use other functionality in Solink if you wish.

You can track the clip's progress on the bottom of the popout window:

See Access Saved Clips for next steps.

Save a Clip from an Event

There are two methods to save an event clip in Solink.

Method 1 - Save Event as a Public Clip

From the Events page, select the Save Clip button in the event card:

From here you can proceed through the clip creation window to save your clip. See the Save Clip steps earlier in this article for a step-by-step guide.

Please note that when you save an event clip with this method, the clip is automatically a Public clip. This means all users on the account can view this clip. See Clip Visibility for more information.

When saving a clip using this method, also keep in mind:

  • You cannot change the title of the clip (the title is the event name).

  • If it is a transaction event, the receipt is automatically attached to the clip. This means all users on the account can view the receipt details once the clip is saved.

Method 2: Save Event as Private or Public Clip

To save an event with the option to set the clip visibility:

  1. Select the event card thumbnail:

  2. In the video player, select the Save Clip/Event button (this button may also display as just Save Clip if you are saving certain event types, such as motion and/or bookmark events):

From here you can proceed through the clip creation window to save your clip. See the Save Clip steps earlier in this article for a step-by-step guide.

When saving a clip using this method, keep in mind:

  • If it is a transaction event, you can choose whether to include the receipt details in the saved clip. However, if you choose this option, the event clip must be a Public clip (all users on the account can view this clip). If you do not select this option, you can still choose the visibility. See Clip Visibility for more information.

Access Saved Clips

You can view saved clips from the Clips page. However, the method you chose to save the clip (via cloud or local download) can impact the ability to view the clip in Solink later. See the sections below for more details.

Access Clips Saved in the Solink Cloud

When you save a clip in the Solink cloud, the clip displays a "cloud" icon and you can view the clip directly in the Solink video player regardless of video retention.

To watch the clip, select the thumbnail to launch the clip in the video player.

You can also select the View Saved... button to view additional saved clips options:

  • Edit the clip. You can change the title, duration (if the source video is still within your retention period), etc.

  • View a shareable link of the clip (select the View Share button).

  • Download the clip locally. If you added multiple cameras to the clip, you can download via each camera angle.

Access Clips Saved Locally

When you save a clip and choose to download it instead of save in the Solink cloud, the saved clip displays a "Download" icon:

You can select the Download button to re-download the clip if it is still within your retention period and you are on the same network as the Solink recording device (QNAP):
