# Video Wall

Display a video wall to see a collection of live cameras in one interface.

The **Video Wall** feature allows you to view and display a group of **live** cameras simultaneously in a separate browser tab.

{% embed url="<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bn8ge4tn8sc>" %}

**Note**: Video Wall only supports Standard Definition (SD) video quality.

## Launch Video Wall

Video Wall allows you to launch all cameras from a [camera group](/docs/watch-and-find-video/manage-cameras/camera-groups.md) or location simultaneously.

To launch Video Wall:

1. Select either a camera group or a location from the left side of the **Video** page:

2. Select the **Video Wall** button from the top-right of the Video page. The cameras from the selected camera group or location open in Video Wall:

**Note**: Video Wall allows you to watch **live video** exclusively. You can view recorded footage by launching a camera directly from the **Video** page.

## How to Use Video Wall

This section provides an overview of how to navigate **Video Wall**. For information on how to configure custom layouts, see [Configure a Custom Layout](#configure-a-custom-layout) further down in this article.

### Navigate to Next/Previous Page

Select the directional arrows **< >** at the top of the page to navigate to the next or previous Video Wall page.

![](https://1562067156-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FlMN1EUQcXYfv7FYpGJWR%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-947b0419754fed7305680185666f75e768e43ef7%2F5ff1446ecb93008e.png?alt=media)

**Note**: The page selector and timer only appear if you have enough cameras to appear across multiple pages.

### Pause Video Wall

Select the **pause button** to pause the timer countdown and ensure Video Wall does not automatically switch to the next page. You can then select the **play button** to resume the countdown.

![](https://1562067156-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FlMN1EUQcXYfv7FYpGJWR%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-34af735f71795f81b1fb1af05454dbf0de8bc394%2Fb3182f5a44a54163.png?alt=media)

### Timer Options

The timer determines how often Video Wall automatically transitions to the next page. Use the dropdown to select a timer interval from as little as 15 seconds up to 5 minutes:

### Layout Options

Select the dropdown in the top-right corner of Video Wall to change the camera layout. You can display as little as one camera at a time (1 X 1) up to 16 cameras (4 X 4). You can also [configure a custom layout](#configure-a-custom-layout) (only available with camera groups).

### Fullscreen

Select the **Fullscreen** button in the top-right corner of Video Wall to expand the screen fully. Select it again to revert to the original screen size.

## Configure a Custom Layout

You can configure a custom page layout in Video Wall for any of your [**camera groups**](/docs/watch-and-find-video/manage-cameras/camera-groups.md). A custom layout provides more display flexibility beyond the standard grid options (for example, you can make one camera larger than the others on the grid).

![](https://1562067156-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FlMN1EUQcXYfv7FYpGJWR%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-f8a1b085e3f9c6e6523e790b842689a72884678c%2Fd8d758fe7698710f.png?alt=media)

When viewing a camera group with Video Wall, follow these steps to configure a custom layout:

1. Select **Custom** from the dropdown menu in the top-right:

![](https://1562067156-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FlMN1EUQcXYfv7FYpGJWR%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-937e7b8418461cbbba45a9f117c44e0806d5c028%2F313c577677c22416.png?alt=media)

2. Select **Edit**:

![](https://1562067156-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FlMN1EUQcXYfv7FYpGJWR%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-ee8520433780f2de05455f3f543c03a795b4e1fe%2F1c8b25afadca1f8c.png?alt=media)

3. You can perform the following actions to adjust your custom layout:
   1. **Adjust Grid Base**: Select the "gear" icon on the top-right corner of the Video Wall page to change the grid layout of the page (between 2 X 2 - 4 X 4).
   2. **Move Camera**: Select **Move camera** in the bottom-right corner of any camera to move it to another Video Wall page. This removes the camera from the current page and leaves a "blank" space where the camera used to be. You can move a camera from another page to the current page to "fill" the blank space.
   3. **Expand Camera**: Select **Expand camera** in the bottom-right corner of a camera to increase the size of the camera on the page. This may move some surrounding cameras to the next available page.
4. When you are finished editing the custom layout, select **Done**.

Now you can select **Custom** from the dropdown in the top-right of Video Wall to choose your custom layout or switch to a different grid layout:

![](https://1562067156-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FlMN1EUQcXYfv7FYpGJWR%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-937e7b8418461cbbba45a9f117c44e0806d5c028%2F313c577677c22416.png?alt=media)

**Note**: You can create a custom layout for most of your camera groups, but not for default groups (such as Recently Viewed and Favorites).

## Launch Camera in Video Player

You can launch a camera from Video Wall in the Solink video player. For example, if you see something suspicious you can easily jump in and investigate what is going on

To launch a Video Wall camera in the standard Solink video player:

1. Hover over a camera.
2. Select **Investigate**. The page navigates away from Video Wall and launches the selected video in the video player:

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.solink.com/docs/watch-and-find-video/manage-cameras/video-wall.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
