# Filter Events in Video Player

You can filter events directly in the video player to help you find what you're looking for. See the topics below to learn more about how you can use the filter option on the Events page.

***

## Filter the Events List

When viewing footage of an event, select the **filter icon** above the events list to filter your events with various parameters:

* Toggle the slider to filter the events list and the events displayed along the video player timeline. If you had searched for a specific term using the search bar on the Events page - for example, you typed "discounts" into the search bar, then navigated to the video player (by selecting an event) - the slider allows you to filter only events that feature the word "discounts," or show all events.
* Select one of the options from the **Show events from** list to filter the events list. For example, if you want the events list to only display events from the current location, select the **Current location** option.

## View Filtered/Searched Events in Video Player

Searched events appear in the video player on the timeline in yellow. These are also referred to as **Filtered** events. For example, if you type "Discount" into the search bar on the events page, then navigate to the video player, all events with a "Discount" transaction appear on the timeline (this is shown in the image below, with these events appearing yellow):

Select the filter icon (near the bottom of the page or at the top of the events list) to toggle between displaying only filtered events or all events:

To learn more, see [Add Filter](/docs/understand-your-business/search-and-save-reports/search-and-filter-events.md#add-filter).
{% endtab %}

Use the filters at the top of the Events page to filter by the following:

1. **Location**: Filter events to one or more locations. Tap to open the location picker.
2. **Date**: Choose which day or a specific date range to view. Defaults to today; your selection is remembered.
3. **Report filter** (filter icon): Apply a saved report filter (Default, Public, or Private filters). Clear the filter from the sheet when you want to see everything again.
4. **Select Type:** Filter by event types/specific feature. Choose a product area (for example AI, Access, or Alarms) or type of event (Scheduled, etc.) to focus on that type of activity. Tap again and choose **All** to return to the full event feed.
5. **Favourite Events (star icon)**: Only display events that have been [**favorited**](/docs/review-events-and-save-evidence/events/share-and-favorite-events/favourite-your-events.md).
6. **Search**: Tap the search icon and type to filter events on the currently filtered day.
7. **All Events/Transaction/Etc**: Event type shortcuts.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.solink.com/docs/review-events-and-save-evidence/events/navigate-events/filter-events-in-video-player.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
