# Copy and Share Clip Links (External Share)

Share a link to a saved video clip.

You can share a link to a saved clip with any person - even if they do not have access to Solink - as long as it is [saved in the Solink cloud](/docs/review-events-and-save-evidence/clips/save-video-clips.md).

Selecting the shared URL allows the individual to:

* Watch the video footage in a new browser tab.
* Download the clip directly to their device.
* If the shared clip is from a transaction event, the transaction details are included below the video player.

Additionally, there are two different methods for sharing clips that determine the accessibility of the clip:

* **Share with anyone**: The [**Copy Share Link**](#copy-share-link-share-clips-with-anyone) button allows you to share a clip link with anyone, regardless of if they are Solink user.
* **Share only with other Solink users**: The [**Copy Internal Link**](#share-internal-link-share-clips-with-solink-users-only) button limits access to the copied link to only Solink users on your account.

## Copy Share Link (Share Clips with Anyone)

To share a clip externally:

1. Ensure the clip is saved in the Solink cloud (if the clip was [saved locally](/docs/review-events-and-save-evidence/clips/download-video-clips.md), you **cannot** share a link to the clip). You can determine if the clip is saved in the Solink cloud by looking for the "cloud" icon to the right of the clip title:

2. Select the **Copy Share Link** button.

3. You can paste this URL in an email, message, etc. and share a link to the clip. Any person with access to the link can view the clip in a basic version of Solink's video player:

<img src="https://1562067156-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FlMN1EUQcXYfv7FYpGJWR%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-370ca350e4ee5e21f08fdb76fb643402a1d170d9%2F20d409b85c054e06.png?alt=media" alt="" width="640">

**Note**: You can also email a link to the clip to one or more recipients during the [Save Clip](/docs/review-events-and-save-evidence/clips/save-video-clips.md) process. In some scenarios, the email may be blocked by the recipient (sometimes this occurs with police or insurance email addresses). In this case, use the method outlined above to share a link to the clip.

**Note:** Ensure the URL begins with "share.io". Otherwise the link may only work for Solink users.

## Share Internal Link (Share Clips with Solink Users Only)

You can copy and share a link to a clip with other Solink users who have access to your account. This is a helpful option if you want to limit access to the clip link.

To share a link to a clip internally:

1. Select the **More Options** icon on the clip that you want to link (three dots).
2. Select **Copy Internal Link**.

You can paste this URL in an email, message, etc. and share a link to the clip. The clip is only accessible to other Solink users on your account.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.solink.com/docs/review-events-and-save-evidence/clips/copy-and-share-clip-links-external-share.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
