# Video Alarms: Getting Started

Solink offers an **Alarms** feature to help further protect your business from theft or any suspicious activity. When movement is detected in a specific area of your business during a certain period of time or when the alarm has been manually armed, Solink sends a notification via text message or email with a link to the relevant video clip.

You can designate a contact to receive an alarm notification; this allows the contact to review alarm-triggering incidents and act accordingly.

See the sections below for additional resources and links to video alarm help articles.

## Accepting the Terms of Service for Video Alarms

Only users with permission to **manage alarm settings** are required to accept the **Video Alarms Terms of Service**. The first time an eligible user opens the **Alarms** tab, a full-screen modal appears displaying Solink’s Software License Agreement and related policies.

You must review and accept these terms **before you can access or configure video alarms**. Acceptance is required **per user**—it is not shared across accounts or inherited from other users—so each qualified user will see and need to accept the Terms of Service the first time they use the **Alarms** tab.

## Available Alarm Subscriptions

The following tiers are available for Solink Video Alarms:

* **Self-Monitored**: This is the default alarm service provided to Solink users. You are permitted to assign **1** **alarm contact** at this level. This alarm contact is responsible for responding to alarms and dispatching emergency services, if necessary.
* [**Self-Monitored+**](/docs/protect-your-locations-with-alarms/alarms-with-ai-detection/self-monitored.md): An additional subscription that provides AI person detection for alarms. When an alarm is triggered, Solink's AI reviews the footage and determines if there is or is not a person present, removing much of the work an alarm contact would spend reviewing false alarms.
* [**Professionally Monitored Video Alarms**](/docs/protect-your-locations-with-alarms/professionally-monitored-video-alarms/professionally-monitored-video-alarms-overview.md): This subscription provides you with monitoring agents who review each alarm and contact your alarm contacts only when necessary. You are permitted to assign up to **3 alarm contacts** per location.

For more information about purchasing a **Solink Video Alarms** subscription, please contact our Sales team at **1-888-817-6546**.

You can confirm which level of alarm service you are subscribed to via **Configure** tab > **Settings**.

## Video Alarms in the Mobile App

The Solink mobile app allows you to:

* Monitor alarm-enabled locations
* Respond to open alarms (disarm, snooze)
* Arm, disarm and follow schedule

The following actions must be done on the Solink web app (not the mobile app):

* Set up and configure alarms
* Review alarms with [VerifEye](/docs/protect-your-locations-with-alarms/alarms-with-ai-detection/verifeye-alarm-verification.md)

Pages that apply to both the web app and the mobile app have a **Web** and a **Mobile** tab. Select **Mobile** to see the mobile app steps.

### Alarms Page Overview

<img src="https://1562067156-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FlMN1EUQcXYfv7FYpGJWR%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-9eba16ec8b0fe47924ed1b7cc9e9464f51b8fb34%2Fc6dfdc238302fb68.png?alt=media" alt="" width="360">

The Alarms page in the Solink mobile app is separated into three tabs in addition to a list of locations:

1. **Open Alarms**: Locations with an active, unclosed alarm.
2. **Enabled**: Locations where alarms are enabled.
3. **Disabled**: Locations where alarms are disabled. Alarms will not trigger at these locations.
4. **Location list** for the respective tab.

Each location card shows:

* Location name
* Alarm status (whether it is active or not)

Tap a card to open that location’s alarm details:

* **States**: See [Arm and Disarm Alarms](/docs/protect-your-locations-with-alarms/use-and-configure-alarms/arm-and-disarm-alarms.md).
* **Alarm Cameras**: See [Alarm Cameras](#alarm-cameras) below.
* **Schedule**: See [Alarm Schedule](/docs/protect-your-locations-with-alarms/alarm-setup/alarm-schedule.md).
* **Contacts**: See [Alarm Contacts](/docs/protect-your-locations-with-alarms/alarm-setup/alarm-contacts.md).
* **PINs**: See [Arm / Disarm PIN](/docs/protect-your-locations-with-alarms/use-and-configure-alarms/arm-disarm-pin.md).

### Alarm Cameras

Select the **Alarm Cameras** tab to see all cameras set up for alarm monitoring at a given location.

Additionally, you can search by camera name (magnifying glass icon).

Tap a camera to open the **video player**.

<img src="https://1562067156-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FlMN1EUQcXYfv7FYpGJWR%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-e565173a70c95719af4cefbc6b5dd81e74f1f399%2F3824572f56a69c78.png?alt=media" alt="" width="360">

Camera cards show alarm mode (Standard, Loitering, or Deterrent), indoor/outdoor placement, and offline status where applicable.

### Audit Alarm Events

Alarm actions you or another user on your account perform (such as arming, disarming, switching schedule, etc) are recorded as **alarm audit events.**

See [Alarm Audit Events](/docs/protect-your-locations-with-alarms/use-and-configure-alarms/alarm-audit-events.md) for more information.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.solink.com/docs/protect-your-locations-with-alarms/video-alarms-getting-started.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
