# Enable Alarm Notifications on your Smartphone

Don't miss Solink alarm notifications on your phone; see this guide for more information.

It is very important for alarm contact(s) to be able to receive and respond to a notification when an alarm is triggered. If an alarm contact has enabled “Do Not Disturb” on their device and a Solink alarm is triggered, the contact may not see the notification until later.

It is highly recommended that an alarm contact configure an exception for Solink (and the monitoring service if you are subscribed to [**Professionally Monitored Video Alarms**](/docs/protect-your-locations-with-alarms/professionally-monitored-video-alarms/professionally-monitored-video-alarms-overview.md)) on their device to avoid missing out on immediate alarm notifications.

The process of configuring notification exceptions varies between iOS and Android devices. Please read the instructions and resources below to properly configure notification exceptions.

**Note:** Some of these resources are from third-party sources and therefore an update to the respective software may change the process of configuring notification exceptions on iOS and/or Android.

### Change Notification Tone for Specific Contact

You can change the notification tone on your device so that any incoming alarm notification from Solink or the monitoring service has a distinct sound. It is not necessary to configure a specific notification tone for your alarm notifications, but it can be helpful if you want to ensure you are notified and can respond to an alarm promptly.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.solink.com/docs/protect-your-locations-with-alarms/use-and-configure-alarms/enable-alarm-notifications-on-your-smartphone.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
