On the **Alarms** page, tap a location. The **States** panel allows you to change how alarms behave at this location:

* **Turn Off**: Alarms are disabled until you change them back.
* **Disarm**: Temporarily disarm the alarm system until a chosen time, then return to schedule.
* **Use Schedule**: Follow the configured weekly schedule.
* **Arm**: Arm the alarm system until a chosen time, then return to schedule.
* **Monitor 24/7**: Arm the alarm system at all times until you change it.

### Arm/Disarm Temporarily

The **Disarm** Temporarily and **Arm** Temporarily buttons allow you to temporarily disarm or arm the system until the next alarm schedule function takes effect.

**Note**: If you have temporarily armed the alarm system, the temporary arm takes priority and any [scheduled exceptions](/docs/protect-your-locations-with-alarms/use-and-configure-alarms/alarm-schedule-exceptions.md) are ignored. You must resume the alarm schedule or wait for the temporary arm to finish to ensure alarm schedule exceptions are followed.

#### Arm Temporarily

Select the **Arm** button to override the alarm schedule and immediately arm the alarm system. The system remains armed until the alarm schedule is expected to disarm the system again.

### Arm/Disarm Methods

This section describes all of the available methods for arming and disarming Solink alarms, in addition to how to arm before an alarm is triggered vs. after.

#### Methods to Arm/Disarm Before Alarm Triggers

The following methods allow you to arm/disarm alarms before the alarm has been triggered:

**1. Solink Mobile App**

With the correct permissions, you can log in to the Solink mobile app to arm/disarm. There are options to temporarily disarm (for example, during an overnight delivery) or disarm indefinitely (for example, ahead of closing a location).

For the steps, select the **Mobile** tab at the top of this page.

**Note:** Please reach out to our [Support](https://solink.com/contact-us/) team if you require mobile app alarm permissions.

**2. Arm and Disarm as an "Alarm-Only" User**

You may want to provide someone with the ability to arm / disarm, but **without any other access to Solink** (e.g., the user would only be able to arm and disarm, not watch live video streams, clips, etc.).

**Note:** Please reach out to our [Support](https://solink.com/contact-us/) team to configure an "alarm-only" user.

**3. Telephone Line**

You can arm and disarm via an on-site phone (similar to a traditional pin pad, but using a phone).

When an alarm is triggered, Solink calls the phone number. Anyone can answer, enter a PIN and disarm for a designated period of time (e.g., 30min). If a PIN is not entered within 90 seconds, or an incorrect PIN is tried twice, the alarm is still created and sent to our monitoring partner for video verification.

For more information on this feature, see [Arm / Disarm PIN](/docs/protect-your-locations-with-alarms/use-and-configure-alarms/arm-disarm-pin.md).

**4. Scheduled Exceptions**

[Scheduled exceptions](/docs/protect-your-locations-with-alarms/use-and-configure-alarms/alarm-schedule-exceptions.md) allow you to disarm the system for a period of time outside of the alarm schedule.

Exceptions can be enabled for all alarm cameras, or only a few (for example, disarm the delivery door, but keep the cash office camera armed). Exceptions can be used for holidays, deliveries, etc. and can be scheduled to repeat or occur once.

#### Methods to Disarm *After* Alarm Triggers

The following methods allow you to disarm alarms after the alarm has been triggered:

**1. Disarm Via Alarm Event Card**

If an active alarm has been triggered, you can view it from the **Recent Alarm Events** section on the **Alarms** tab. You can disarm the event from here and specify the length of time to disarm (for example, 30 minutes).

<img src="https://1562067156-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FlMN1EUQcXYfv7FYpGJWR%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-ce5bff43676779a5249e561a924b3bd470aa8b7c%2F1111e6cef8019e64.jpg?alt=media" alt="" width="560">

For more information, see [Temporarily Disarm an Open Alarm](/docs/protect-your-locations-with-alarms/use-and-configure-alarms/manage-open-alarms.md#temporarily-disarm-an-open-alarm).

**2. Request Monitoring Agent to Disarm**

When a monitoring agent reaches out to your alarm contact(s) if they determine there is a threat to person or property, or if they are unsure if there is a threat, the contact(s) receive an SMS text message and/or a phone call.

In response, the contact(s) can instruct the agent to disarm the alarm for them. (e.g., “There is a delivery happening for the next 2 hours. We forgot to add a scheduled exception. Please disarm for 2 hours”).

**Note**: This feature is only available if you are subscribed to [Professionally Monitored Video Alarms](/docs/protect-your-locations-with-alarms/professionally-monitored-video-alarms/professionally-monitored-video-alarms-overview.md).

### Arm/Disarm in the Mobile App

To arm or disarm in the Solink mobile app, select the **Mobile** tab at the top of this page.

***

### Arm/Disarm on Alarm Tablet

You can arm and disarm your alarm system via Solink's alarm tablet, if you have one. See [Arm and Disarm (Alarm Tablet)](/docs/protect-your-locations-with-alarms/video-alarm-tablet/arm-and-disarm-video-alarm-tablet.md) for more information.

### How to See Who Armed/Disarmed an Alarm

When an alarm is armed and/or disarmed, Solink creates an event on the Events page with information regarding when the alarm was armed/disarmed, who armed/disarmed it, etc.

![](https://1562067156-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FlMN1EUQcXYfv7FYpGJWR%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-b4870102005a155c3c483869565135fe9bc51e08%2Fc56e24016c606b7c.png?alt=media)

You can access these events via the **Events** page > **Audit** tab:

![](https://1562067156-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FlMN1EUQcXYfv7FYpGJWR%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-f888de209cfcf25774d10b9bf99b49d76d5c5ee1%2Fd915f6836245e9b4.png?alt=media)

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.solink.com/docs/protect-your-locations-with-alarms/use-and-configure-alarms/arm-and-disarm-alarms.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
